The EUROGATE Tanger S.A. container terminal is the southernmost facility in the EUROGATE network. The terminal is conveniently and geostrategically located on the Straits of Gibraltar in Morocco. 90,000 ships pass here every year on their way to the Atlantic or the Mediterranean. The container terminal is located in a free trade zone to the east of the city of Tangier. EUROGATE Tanger is the ideal transhipment hub for the western Mediterranean as well as Africa and South America. Boasting a quay length of 810 m, a terminal area of 400,000 m² and a draught of up to 18 m, the facility is well-equipped to handle the new generation of container ships.
EUROGATE Tanger S.A. is operated by a consortium of several companies, headed by EUROGATE. The consortium comprises the container terminal operators EUROGATE and Contship Italia as well as the shipping lines MSC, CMA CGM and COMANAV. EUROGATE Tanger is a common user terminal and handles carriers of all shipping lines. The facility went into operation in October 2008.
